It is often easy to collaborate when the cause is common and everyone agrees. It is another matter altogether when sides are divided and issues are partisan or hotly contested. Yet it is precisely when issues become difficult that collaborative leadership is most important. The ability to bring people together can be your most effective tool for having your own interests met.

This interactive workshop provides participants with practical strategies and tools for collaborative leadership. It begins with a challenging scenario in which panelists will propose specific strategies and responses that demonstrate such leadership.

Following the panel, session participants will be presented a specific case study reflecting a common situation in Virginia, and will be challenged to develop collaborative leadership strategies to manage the situation for positive outcomes.

From this afternoon of working together, participants will learn how to avoid strategies and behaviors that build opposition in favor of strategies that are productive and that build consensus.
